West Texas

Our trip to West Texas experienced extreme heat (the high was 108 on our last day at Big Bend) and severe drought.  Not the best of years for wildflowers or butterflies, but wherever there was water, there were birds.  We stayed out of the lowlands during the midday heat, and discovered a great variety of birds and natural beauty in the arid habitats of West Texas.
