Monarch Trek
Monarch Trek
In mid-February, 2010, my wife Paige Cunningham and I joined our friends Mike Rosen & Tamar Krichevsky on a short visit to Mexico. Our goal: to visit one of the sites in the Transvolcanic Mountain Range where huge concentrations of monarch butterflies overwinter. We based our stay at Rancho San Cayetano, in Zitacuaro, and visited the colony at Cerro Pelon. We considered our trip a complete success. Next time we’ll try to visit more than one of the overwintering colonies.
